Look up your Carrier HVAC warranty in under two minutes.
Find the serial number on your Carrier condenser or air handler, run a warranty lookup on Carrier.com, and understand exactly what parts vs labor coverage means before you call for service.
Locate the model and serial number
On residential HVAC units the model and serial are on a metal rating plate - usually on the outdoor condenser near the electrical box, or on the indoor air handler cabinet. Copy the full alphanumeric string exactly as printed.
Open Carrier's owner portal
Go to Carrier.com and open the Owner Support section, then choose Warranty Lookup or Register Your Product. You'll need the serial number; some regions also ask for your ZIP code and installation date.
Enter the serial and check status
Paste the serial number. The tool returns installation date on file, base parts warranty end date, any registered extended coverage, and eligible part categories (compressor, coil, other parts).
Understand parts vs labor coverage
Carrier's factory warranty covers parts only - labor to diagnose, remove and reinstall the part is almost never included unless you bought a Carrier labor plan or an installer add-on. Note the difference before you call for service.
Register within 90 days for full term
For units installed at a single-family home, registering within 90 days of installation unlocks the full 10-year parts term on eligible components. Unregistered units usually drop to a shorter standard term (often 5 years).
Six places the Carrier serial usually hides
Parts vs labor, in plain English
Carrier's factory warranty pays for the replacement part - a new compressor, coil, blower motor, or control board. It does not pay the technician's time to diagnose the problem, drive to your home, remove the failed part, or install the new one. Labor bills for a compressor swap can easily run several hundred dollars, so ask your installer whether they bundled a labor warranty at install, or whether Carrier's optional labor plan is worth adding now.
Save your unit with a serial-number scanHow do I look up my Carrier warranty by serial number?
Visit Carrier.com, open Owner Support and choose Warranty Lookup. Enter the serial number from the rating plate on your outdoor unit or air handler; the tool returns the installation date on file and the parts warranty end date for that specific unit.
Does Carrier warranty cover labor?
The standard Carrier factory warranty covers parts only. Labor to diagnose, remove and reinstall a failed part is only covered if you separately purchased a Carrier labor warranty or an installer-provided labor plan at installation.
What is the difference between registered and unregistered Carrier warranty?
Registering the unit within 90 days of installation at a single-family home usually unlocks the full 10-year parts term on eligible components. If it isn't registered, coverage typically falls back to a shorter standard term (often 5 years) and the compressor term is reduced.
Is the Carrier warranty transferable to a new homeowner?
Residential Carrier warranties are generally not fully transferable. In some cases a reduced, prorated warranty can be transferred to the next homeowner if you notify Carrier in writing within 90 days of the property sale - check your specific model's warranty certificate.
What voids a Carrier HVAC warranty?
Common voiding reasons include installation by an unlicensed technician, missing annual professional maintenance records, use of non-matched or non-Carrier components, damage from power surges, floods or corrosive environments, and any unauthorized modification to the equipment.
